Interesting (weird?) behavior today... The speed with which my Bayesian analysis runs seems to be dependent on the random seed. I think a few more inference runs are necessary to verify...

My teaching skills seem to be in great demand. I'll be team-teaching a course at UIC next semester (biological data analysis) and now I've been asked to participate in UChicago's CS bioinformatics course again.

Time to find a random number generator to put together some random data sets for the next stage of the Drosophila mitochondrial genome analysis.

Almost finished revising manuscript for PSB2001. Submitted (functional, but not perfect) latex2e style file for the PSB ftp site.

Highest priority for the next day or two goes to the task of reading... Tom Clancy's most recent novel, that is.

Busy busy busy

Revising paper for PSB2001 (Hawaii in January is lovely)... and converting it from StarOffice to LaTeX. Trying to get R-1.1.1 installed to clean up the graphs.

Planning an NSF grant on genome analysis...

Running a Bayesian tree estimation program on some cool plant sequences.

Watched Paup* continue eating RAM while it chunks away on Shannon's analysis - running for 300+ hours, now half-way finished.

Finally completed forms for change of postdoc advisor.

New HTML Parser: The long-awaited libxml2 based HTML parser code is live. It needs further work but already handles most markup better than the original parser.
