there is a pretty cool page here comparing a whole bunch of the most popular registrars.

wow! i remember 9 fingers and tech.death. it's been so long since i even thought about those, i'd completely forgotten them. makes me want to watch them on my amiga 1200, which i stupidly loaned a friend in exchange for his NEC multisync monitor. he moved away, and i never saw my amiga again.. 8^(

sad but true, http://www.rhymeswithorange.com/arch/960320.html.

speaking of things amiga, i freaked out a little yesterday when i was trying to check out studio3's website. the hostname wouldn't resolve and i was really worried that they'd gone broke and last ninja 4 would never see the light of day. it seems they were moving ISP's though. phew!

surprised that i'm not tired this morning - it's my second 80 hour week in a row.

does anyone out there know how to pipe the contents of every single incoming and outgoing qmail message to a script? i know you can patch the source and recompile, but it only saves the messages in a file - not exactly what i was after.

there are some really exciting things happening on the PHP front, especially the new network stuff (SSL! yeah, baby, yeah!) and the XSLT extension. what i'm really hoping for is a PHP template extension sometime soon though. i wish i was smart enough to write it (or even design it, dammit) but alas, that's not the case.

"marge, these people looked deep within my soul and assigned me a number based on the order in which i joined."

logged on and started reading through the news, pleasantly surprised to find i have been certified as an "advogato apprentice". (thanks andrei!)

i've spent the last 24 hours wondering why the PHP interbase extension doesn't have a ibase_num_rows function, and am slowly realising that it probably won't make that much difference to any work i do with it.

interbase is truly awesome, and i am giving MySQL the flick for good. it is easy to install, has great features, and it has all the ACID loveliness you could ever wish for. yumm. i'm so glad borland made it free software and it didn't just become abandonware.

after reading squiggy's diary i thought i'd bite the bullet and finally register for advogato. i don't know whether anyone will end up certifying me, but hopefully in a couple of months when i release some of my very own free (GPL'ed) software my rating will improve.

New Advogato Features

New HTML Parser: The long-awaited libxml2 based HTML parser code is live. It needs further work but already handles most markup better than the original parser.

Keep up with the latest Advogato features by reading the Advogato status blog.
