appframework

I've just seen the appframework @ java.net. I'll try this framework and maybe integrate it in our cursus. It seems pretty cool to design Swing based applications. Introduction article. Article at JavaLobby

It-Alien!

A friend told me about Renoise, and browsing their site, I click on that page http://www.renoise.com/songs.php?pg=artist&id=19 and I listened to all the titles, really cool! ;-)

No FOSDEM for me this year

I intended to attend to the FOSDEM as past years but it won't be possible :'( I'm too late for too many things and I have to spend my weekends trying to catch with those things.

I wanna attend to the Java DevJam but I removed my name. I hope I'll be able to fix things and meet another time or next year.

Will Alexendria support XMLRPC or SOAP interface

I've just tried the Mylyn Eclipse plug-in and it's really a great plug-in to manage tasks, bugs and so. It's capable to show only files you shoudld be working on, count time you spend on a task and update task note or comment it. I did not try the Bugzilla or Trac connector but the Generic web connector to interact with Sourceforge.

An very good feature would be a better interaction with Sourceforge, but reading bug reports against Mylyn, the blocker is an XMLRPC or a SOAP interface to the Sourceforge bug tracking software. That's why I filed a bug at Sourceforge

I was trying to install Glassfish from upstream binary when I launched ant -buildfile setup.xml I had an error:

Glassfish requires JDK 1.5 or higher, you have java version "1.7.0"

Eclipse with IcedTea on Debian Lenny PowerPC

Eclipse_IcedTea
Mise en ligne par avdyk
I just launch it and was so surprised that I wanna blog about it. I don't know how it works but Eclipse starts as fast enough for me (maybe faster than IBM's JVM, I don't know) and I can't beleive it! :-D

Read previous blog to have instructions to build it (and again thanks to Sun, Gary Benson and all those who make it possible!)

No new laptop

Someone stole one of my co-worker's laptop. It's really sad, of
course, as you can imagine, no backup! All the staff has been
backuping private data on the next day! Now, there is a bad mood at
work where every trainer lock the door when (s)he teaches :(

Another bad news is the assurance does not work because it was during
the work and there is no infraction. So we'll lost nearly €3000. That
means I can forget my new laptop this year :'(

I'll be looking closer at the work of Garry Benson on the powerpc
port of IcedTea.

As soon as IBM release a jdk 6 for powerpc on linux, I installed it to give a try. I did not get special problems until I installed latest Eclipse (3.3): impossible to install a plugin via the update site!

What I did is to launch Eclipse 3.3 with IBM's jdk1.5, install the plugins and then, restart it with IBM's jdk6.

As soon as I have some time, I'll try to launch it with an up-to-date gcj/jamvm/cacao.

Debian

libxerces2-java and jaxp new upstream in Debian. I'll try to work on bugs I own but I'm very busy at work at the moment and there are music festivals during week-ends!

Music

I studied Musical Theory this year. I succeeded. I also follow the courses of trumpet and drums (percussions). I succeeded too ;-) I did not play that much for the last days. I hope to have more time during the holidays.

A friend asked me to work with him on an musical project. It should be something between jazz and house music. I'd like it to be published using CC but I'm not sure it'll happen (I'm not alone to decide).

Life

My wife and I went on Couleur Cafe this Sunday: we saw: Joshua, DJ Medhi, Ayo, an other group I don't remember the name, and The Roots! I bought the ticket only to see ?uestLove (the drummer): incredible! The rest of the group is also wonderful. It was a great show. Next week-end, my wife and I will be at Les Ardentes. I'm not sure we'll sleep this week-end!

I'll be on vacation from July 21. I hope I'll be able to dedicate more time to Debian-Java... and music!

New HTML Parser: The long-awaited libxml2 based HTML parser code is live. It needs further work but already handles most markup better than the original parser.
