Hmm, I just realized that recently too much time was spent on KOffice hacking. Need to be careful, otherwise I won't have much energy left.

A little hack: dBASE import for KSpread

Valgrind is cool. Not everyone can afford to buy Purify, so Valgrind is the best choice (and it's free/GPL). Anyway, just after using Valgrind for minutes, I start to detect many leaks and other bad things in a few of my old programs.

Useless hours spend on tracking cvs bug with libc. I wanted to compile cvs but then broken getopt caused wrong command line options parsing, and afterwards my cvs didn't understand any commands at all. Workaround was rather simple, force cvs to use its own (GNU) implementation of getopt (well, no configure magic here, just some __GNU__LIBRARY!). Also, a bit tweaking is required to fix some other odd behaviours.

I don't know whether anyone of my university has even done his/her thesis report using LaTeX. The fact is I couldn't find any style ready to use. Hence, in the last few days, I struggled understanding these all control sequences, so as to create a functional style for my thesis report. Nice !

After long hours, finally PalmDoc and WML filter for KWord are ready for prime-time. And also, I still have Lotus AmiPro and WordStar pending to finish. Many kudos and thanks should go to Werner, David and Nicolas!

Many things happened since my last diary entry. Well, I have finished some final exams, only 2 left to go. In the mean time somehow I also passed German Certificate (Zertifikatdeutsch). Closing Year 2001, I'm quite happy that my beloved magazine: InfoLinux is still pretty much well alive. Hopefully I can keep the whole energy to support it. Quite possibly, more articles for beginners will be perfect for that. In my short holidays, fortunately there's little time to have fun with that all sorts of programming again. Slow but sure, I hope some of my (humble) hacks will find their way out...

The more I learn about Qt and KDE, the more I love it. These things are simply cool. And hopefully, the fresh Qt 3.0 will be better than ever.

Well, being back in home country can't never be too bad. I have to adapt to many things again, including the US keyboard layout (formerly in Germany of course DE-layout is the one used everywhere).

Along, too many things to do left almost nothing for time with computer. Nevertheless, my sweet SuSE box is already there, waiting for hacks...
