Carpe Diem What a beautiful day! The snow was still soft. The air was crisp from the morning sun and there was a light breeze. I had just come home from a brisk walk. The coffee pot was brewing and the aroma was aphrodisiacal. She was in deep slumber. I did not have the heart to wake her up. It was Saturday and she had had a tough week. I still remember the Monday! It was her first day and she was all nervous. She was scared of everyone else around her she said. I tried my best to comfort her. But no matter what you do, five year olds have a mind of their own! She said that they would call her names. Jeannette tried to placate her and tell her that all would be OK. Jeannette was our nanny. Caroline had lost her mother when she was two. She had vague memories of her mother and so it did not pain her to not have her. But for me it was heart breaking each time I saw Carol. She had completely taken on her mother. Her mother was the most beautiful woman I had met, both internally and externally! I had had five wonderful married years with her before she passed away. One day, she did not wake up. The doctors said that it was a natural death. I was strong. I did not cry then. But that was then, I cry each moment now. A first day at school is always something we all remember and can relate to. Carol, was trembling when she got back. She said that they did call her names. She wept for four long hours in Jeannette's arms. These seemed to me like four long years! What could I have done. Remarriage was not an option. What I had with Caroline's mother was something magical. And magicians do nto repeat their tricks! So I had hired Jeannette. She was there for Carol's physical needs and I hoped to be there for her emotional ones. I think I was doing a good job till her first day at school. The subsequent days were worse. She had nightmares about the other school kids chasing her. She had not slept well in days! Oh lord! What could I do. All I could think of was that she would get strength to tide through these tough times. You cannot be so cruel. Why did you not show your mercy and give her both her legs instead of holding onto one? Love is not love Which alters when it alteration finds, Or bends with the remover to remove: O no! it is an ever-fixed mark That looks on tempests and is never shaken; It is the star to every wandering bark, Whose worth's unknown, although his height be taken. Love's not Time's fool, though rosy lips and cheeks Within his bending sickle's compass come: Love alters not with his brief hours and weeks, But bears it out even to the edge of doom. If this be error and upon me proved, I never writ, nor no man ever loved Define LOVE Love is, When you think of her while brushing in the morning Love is, When you smell her in your clothes Love is, When you walk along the street thinking she is walking with you Love is, When you smile in the middle of the day cos she is on you mind Love is, When you go red in embarrasment at your presentation thinking of your night with her Love is, When you can stay up all night while she is chatting with her girl friends Love is, When you swallow the chillies for her to savour the sugar Love is, When you walk down the aisle with nothing but pride in your heart Love is, When you sleep in her arms as if there is no tomorrow Love is, My darling angel, YOU!! barerare bartsmart basielazy jollysahli jollyscali jollysholly jollysmalley jollysolley jollysollie jollysolly jollystolley jollytolley jollytrolley
