Life is good

Was my birthday yesterday... my father got me a nice Sony CPD-G400 Monitor so I can have a nice whopper of a desktop. Here's a screenshot and real picture

Speaking of which, my dad got a Canon Powershot G1 camera. Nice piece of equipment. The Linux USB mass storage drivers are bugging me, as I can read from the SanDisk Imagemate, but not write to it... It is the one with the eject button, and therefore is supposed to work. Oh well, i'll go yell on some mailing lists later.

No coding lately. School isn't really demanding, yet still wastes a lot of my time

Think I found a place where I can be a summer intern, i'll ask a friend who works there if they need more help.

Nothing else now...

long time no post...
many things happened... school started... met with friends... etc
aaronl has managed to recently convert me into a non-gnome user (no offense #gnome, you guys rock)
its just the more i have been using computers, the more i have discovered my dislike for interfaces designed to be "easy", mainstream style (IE point and click)
I am now a pure enlightenment user...

other than that, life is okay... school is progressing slowly but surely. as usual, my boredom has spawned and destroyed many little hacks i create in my free time. the largest of which is an "AOL Dialectizer", which converts normal language to "AOL l33t haxor" talk. worth a good laugh to anyone who uses it. i'll post it up somewhere later
gotten significantly better with C and GTK. Expect me to create some sort of project soon when i have the time.

LINUXWORLD KICKED ASS!!!!!!
everyone who didn't go really missed something.
mishan brought a digital camera so we have some shots. i'll post a URL later.
Most memorable moment: asking Rob Malda to sign a paper saying "FIRST POST!"
hehehe

not much work done on coding. but linuxworld definitely kicked ass

haven't posted in awhile..
the bot i've been working with mishan is progressing very nicely.
its currently maintained on a non-anonymous cvs server, so you can get a snapshots made by me here.
if the server is down, try again later.
switched over to mozilla today. mainly because netscape (not mozilla) kept crashing (literally) every three minutes. M17 is much more stable than M16. i suggest it to anyone who's curious.
as for other stuff.. i'm slowly getting better at C.
i wrote a convoutional encoder with the help of my dad, using the algorithm that HDTV uses.
it encodes at 60000 bytes per second on my P2 400 ;)
next is to generalize it, so i can enter gate settings and have it use any type of convolutional code

damn i love summer!

First Post!
Anyways... I've done some work along with mishan on a simple IRC bot in perl... we will soon release it to the world under the GNU GPL.
It can currently keep a userbase, give operator status to recognized persons, have wildcards for the user hosts, and give out fortunes (optionally offensive :))
I'm studying the gtk tutorial that comes with the gtk+. it is slowly starting to make sense. Its late, I need to get up at 8:00 am tomorrow (well today now, i guess) for an optometrist apointment.
Taa Taa.
