Older blog entries for Physicman (starting at number 23)

Oh yes, I nearly forgot to mention that after some hassles, the new Fosdem website is live on the new server.

I've hacked a local_scan function for Exim lately. The purpose was to be able to use the Distributed Checksum Clearinghouse system through the dccifd daemon rather than to call a dccproc process for each mail.

The code isn't certainly perfect, but it seems to be working rather well and I must say I'm pretty impressed by the efficiency of DCC.

On another subject, my IPv6 tunnels seem to be very popular. I already have more than 25 without doing any kind of advertisement. Time to start doing some serious scripting about it. I need something a bit more automated than what can be found on http://www.physicman.net/tools/

In the mean time, I'll continue to build some Debian packages.

The SDSL is working fine, but I'm still wondering how I'm gonna build the network here.

I've put some mirrors on my packages page: http://packages.physicman.net

I'll try to build some packages this week.

Got my new SDSL line. Time to play with a Cisco again.

I created a repository for Debian packages on my server; but don't have much to put there for the moment :)

Have been too busy and too lazy to post more often...

Fosdem 2003 is over and it has been great again. Lots of cool stuff. I should definitively try to write some code again soon.

I've been quite busy with IPv6 lately. Should try to convert some application to support it. We'll see...

Time for bed, I didn't sleep enough this week-end.

wow it's been a long time...

Diablo is working.

Courier is working.

Exim is fabulous.

I love it all...

I've got Courier+Exim running. Courier even works with SSL support. Still have to find a way to make some real testing before moving it into production.

I'll look further into Perdition. We probably don't need LDAP support after all. It's somewhat weird to compile since it wants LaTeX and some other stuff like that.

I think I really enjoy my job :)

Well... there were some troubles with the feeder upgrade...

I think it's mostly fixed now. There are still some things I don't exactly get with the feeds. For instance, the doc says that if you include the dspoolout info into the dnewfeeds file you don't need a dnntpspool.ctl file anymore. But if it doesn't exist, dnewslink doesn't seem to start at all...

Ah well... enough breaking news... I'll start breaking mail now :)

Perdition seems to have LDAP support. Cool. I'll try that later today...

I need to check out/implement the mail thing in the following order:

  • POP3 proxy (Perdition?)
  • SMTP with Maildir delivery and LDAP support (Exim) [mostly checked]
  • POP3(/IMAP4?) with LDAP authentication (Courier) [checked]
  • Webmail (optional) (Courier? IMP?)
  • SSL/TLS support (optional)

Well... Lots of fun in perspective :)

Upgraded news feeder to latest Diablo. Not too much problems as far as I can tell...

Feeling tired and sick...

Not a lot to mention.

I've been playing with Exim and Courier. Now I need to work out the global design with Jimmy. I hope he'll have some time today.

I've been playing at Urban Terror lately. Also played at Civilization: Call to power this week-end. Too bad Loki went down :(
