Instead of finishing my paper, I participated in the Moneyflow
discussion, which is generating some really interesting
responses. Advogato is just great! I think I'm going to
install
Freenet and play around with Espra, the tipping-enabled
music file sharing thing. Too bad its just for Win32 which
still doesn't like my sound card :(

Privately, I got hooked on R-Type -- aren't console
emulators just great? ;-)

work: putting the finishing touches on a
paper on hypertext coherency (undergrad stuff but still
interesting); finally got the GIMP registry to a point where it
will accept new stuff instead of just updates;
various minor things keeping me from working :)

life: Kidding? ;-) Nah, not that bad. Nice,
relaxed chilling :)

Yeehaa! Winter term is over since thursday :))

Now, two parties later, serious work can begin again.
Everyone who always wanted to make a good suggestion for the
GIMP registry is invited to write in now! I still have a
stack to go through, mostly basic stuff, but I'll dedicate
most of next week to it, so chances are good.

Inbetween drinking, I read Neal Stephensons (of "Snowcrash"
and "Cryptonomicon" fame) first two works ("The Big U" and
"Zodiac", in that order). They are, obviously, not of the
same quality as his later works but definetely some of the
best debut work I have read so far. They don't have a
computer them (being about university dorm live and eco
activism, respectively) but that made for a refreshing
change from my usual literature. Stephensons lucid prose is
already there and especially Zodiac has some of the
insiqhtful, sarcastic humor that made his later works such a
success. They are short, too, so they make for good reading
on a trip or something. Overally, I can recommend them.

Summary of the last three days: Not enough sleep, fucked up
job (never work for a company that considers moving with the
trend a viable long-term strategy), too much alcohol. I'll
get over it :)

phew, finally recovered from a very cool new years party :)

I met neo and mitch at 17C3 in Berlin and we
talked a bit about the future of plug-in distribution.
Nothing has been really decided, yet, but definetely a lot
of things will happen -- hopefully to the better. I have
been making several incremental improvements to the registry
which will hopefully appear soon.

The pet project nick-named fargonauten of a few
friends and me in Bielefeld (yes, B. really does exist) is
shaping up, the first homepage cut is there and
I'm currently working on putting some dynamic frameworks in
place.

Now, if that pesky term project would be behind me, life
would be perfect. Well, working on it :)

Development on the registry is picking up
pace, after three years of neglection. pcg
has some interesting ideas regarding XML description of the
plug-ins. It will take a little longer to implement, but
make for a very cool update interface

The move to XML is also looking good because
neo indicated that in GIMP 2.0,
some of the
plug-in interface might be XML based. Nothing certain for
now, but looks promising.
