I was trying out Active Perl after a long... long time and was quiet impressed by the amount of progress. Things were quiet smooth, except when I needed to use PPM. The PPm , unlike "perl -MCPAN" doesn't do an automatic config setting the first time it is used. Thus it took me some time before I realised that HTTP_proxy had to be set as a ENV variable.

The guys should get this step in because when they expand and have mirror sites for their packages, one should be able to choose the site to use the first time around. I guess just following the present style in perl should be good enough.
