Hi, I'm back!

Anyway lots has changed since I last posted here, moved house, had a baby (and now have another on the way!). I forget the rest.

Have the world gone totally mad whilst I was asleep?

Have got FC2 running on my VAIO - downloaded the wrong image, but as it took 2 days, am not going to download the FC3 one unless I have to!

All look fine so far - xorg is running at 1200x800 and sound works - these I thought would be difficult. Wireless network not working quite yet - not a great issue at the moment

Other news

What did I expect?

Life or whatever

My new laptop has arrived - Sony VAIO S2XP - Comes with Xp - already over that, Ubuntu's live disk seems to work just fine, so just backing up the media, and away I go!

Regigged the iriver for rhythmbox patch, but waiting for a nice laptop to play with!

Life

Off to Cambodia in three weeks - yippee.

Picked up my cat yesterday - she is 5, was mistreated and then rescued and trusts no-one, so it is a great feeling to feel that trusted.

Hacking

Submitted the initial version of the iRiver source for rhythmbox - bit of a brain dead hack of the iP*d source - even appropriated the iP*d icon!
Rhythmbox continues to get better and better, and I hope I don't break it too badly!

Well, haven't updated this for a while, so an short update.

Work

Hacking

Been looking at getting an iRiver gnome vfs module written - it nearly works as well. Also been playing with f-spot, trying to get it to work on ppc-linux, it runs and 'nearly' works, will submit a list of bugs later.

ihpvfs structure

The structure that I want to get (might not be able to), is as follows, some of the basic donkey work is done, using my old pjbvfs module and looking at the way in which the qahog module is coded.

<root node>
+ Genre
+ <List of Genres>
+ <List of Artists>
+ <List of Albums>
+ <List of tracks>
+ Artist
+ <List of Artists>
+ <List of Albums>
+ <List of tracks>
+ Album (???)
+ <List of Albums>
+ <List of tracks>
+ Unclassified (??)
+ <Untagged files>
+ Playlists
+ <Contents of playlists>
+ Record
+ Voice
+ <Contents of RECORD/Voice>
+ Audio
+ <Contents of RECORD/Voice>

So ...

Need to create as start points

	<Genre> - Done
<Artist>
<Album??>
<Playlists>
<Record>
<Record/Voice>
<Record/Audio>
When you add a track add an entry in genre, artist & album
When finished, add a list of the playlists

Also need to get the mime-type and the file size, might make things a bit slower though

Well, haven't updated this for a while, so an short update.

Blwyddyn Newydd Da

Life

Well as I said earlier this year, I am in love, and this time I mean it!

Liz I love you, and I miss you

Work

Become a permanant contracted employee on 2nd January, not sure how long it will last, as I am off to VSO this year - probably.

Hacking

Well, see previous section on life, and have been a little busy ;o)

Just got in to hear about Sisob (Mark Finlay), I never met him, but we have had email conversations about Rhythmbox and other GNOME applications. I'm totally shocked, and can only say that I feel strange missing someone I never met!

Peace and love to everyone.

Life

Or more importantly my iBook. Managed to fix it. I have never been so nervous taking a computer to bits before!

Hacking

Have done a few other small changes to Rhythmbox, and am thinking about updating my interface to dashboard, as the RhythmDB changes make my previous version not work, but in a good way!

Now using Fedora Core - good in parts this, Totem works (and now plays DVDs), RPM seems to be annoying broken!

Submitted this via GnomeBlog, which is cool!
