Whooo

It's been ages I didn't wrote something there (18 months).
Because of my work Gael didn't advance. Moreover things have not worked the way they should have. This lead me to restart the application in Python as changes will be reflect much faster.

As time goes by I'm more and more using Python. It's a really nice and clean language. pygtk team makes also a good job with this software and it's really fun to code Gnome applications this way.

I hope Gael will start again as I got lots of free time now if my job search doesn't take me too much.

Well, I bet I'm not very familiar with posting in advogato :o

Anyway, I'm rather happy for gael.
seb128 made nice packages for sid.
The coding continues to keep on going : MrProject team gave me nice ideas -thanks to them-. I still have some conceptals troubles, but they are almost fixed :)

The schematic capture on Gael will soon reach an alpha level. I'll then be able to start simulation :)

It's been some time I haven't updated my diary. Due is for
today.

I'm happily finishing my move. It was time consuming but
gael went fine. Seems some people start being interested in.
It starts being usable and this is cool.

Gnome2 starts working well which is another cool thing :)

2002 starts as a nice year. Hope this will keep on going.

Yesteday I freshmeated gael, and I really had lots of
page viewed and download. I was rather impressed.

I just noticed that gael is now part of the gnome
foundry. I just don't know the guys that holds this foundry,
neither do I know their role on gnome. I may take the time
to discuss somewhat with them.

Anyway, GAEL website is under rewrite. I
need to do documentation about the what is gael, where it
goes, what is the design...

As always, so much to do and so few time

Gael alpha 0.1 is released.

I'm really happy today, because I could have some start
point with gael.
Thanks goes to rhult for helping finding nice ideas.
Gael does not much yet, but the general design is present
and I think it will be easily extendable.
ATM one can only select symbols and place them, but I
believe it was the hardest part. The way now will be times
easier untill we deal with the simulation....
I'm going to polish somewhat the schematic editor, and then
I will work on the layout tool.

Hey, this is my very first entry so don't be afraid if
it's somewhat chaotic, I got so many things to say. ;)

Let's post a word about dia-newcanvas. I'm rater happy to
have text rendering working with pango (greetings to alex
for the help he gave me).
Dia-newcanvas starts looking nice. It needs some polishing,
but it's becoming usable.

It helps me a lot with gael. This app is
just starting, but I can already do nice things with
components :). I must say here that jamesh
libglade is very useful for fast development. It just rocks.

I'll try this week to do a nicer web site for gael and
write some specs. They are already missing but the code
started looks safe (thanks rhult for the
ideas.
