I just put up an interview with wxWindows developers on my codingstyle.com site. This is the first original content for codingstyle.com, and the interview was a really rewarding and educational experience. Thanks to the participants and the wxWindows community for being so approachable and helpful.

Been quite awhile since I last posted a journal entry. ;-) A lot has happened since last time. I am no longer a SysAdmin (yay!) and have found a job as a Unix software engineer which I am finding really enjoyable. Oh, and I think I'm getting the hang of the C -> C++ paradigm switch. (I'm not doing anything like polymorphism yet though.)

I also found somebody very capable to take over kerneltrap.com (thanks Jeremy), and lately have found myself jealous over how successfully he has built a community around it, so I decided to finally pay for some hosting and resurrect codingstyle.com. By all means, drop by and read the stories, vote in the polls, and even better, submit some material. ;^)

I am also trying to find some spare leisure time to work on my pet project, Incriminata (http://sourceforge.net/projects/incriminata/). One of these days I'll release more than a smattering of libraries (what's up in CVS so far is all LGPL though! Use them, love them, fix 'em. ;-) )

Still looking for a qualified person who would be interested in taking over the http://www.kerneltrap.com or http://www.codingstyle.com sites. I am offering them up for FREE.

Finally getting back into some development after doing pisante stuff like small scripts and ISAPI filters. :p I'm trying to make the transition to C++ from C, but it hasn't been easy. Two excellent books (C++ for C Programmers by Ira Pohl, ISBN 0-201-39519-3; as well as C++ Faqs, 2nd ed. by Cline, Lomow, Girou, ISBN 0-201-30983-1) are making the transition a little easier, however. My target is to be a handy C++ coder (as opposed to a ``warmed over C programmer using a C++ compiler'') within the next 3 months.

Due to a number of reasons, I do not think I have the time (and resources) to continue building a couple of sites. If anybody here would be interested in a dynamic news site, I hereby offer to transfer over for free and with no strings attached, the domains, code, and DB entries (with user table's e-mail addresses blanked out for privacy reasons) for www.kerneltrap.com, and www.codingstyle.com. I think I would much rather enjoy these two sites from the other side of the fence.

Traffic at www.kerneltrap.com continues to ramp up. I'm pleased with the progress so far. Actually, things look good for an interview with the good folks over at BSDi including the project manager for embedded systems and kernel products, as well as some of the developers there.

Actually, I'm asking the development community to help come up with some proposed questions for this interview, so if there's anything you'd like to ask them, please read the proposal and post your questions.

Last month, I set up a new community discussion site, www.kerneltrap.com which is a news and discussion portal devoted to low-level systems programming, embedded systems development, and OS kernel hacking. It is with this site that I plan on getting myself back into the hard-core dev world again.

I must say, I'm getting sick of just doing sysadmin work. If anybody is looking for a developer in Tokyo, Japan, I am an experienced C/C++/PHP programmer with Oracle and MySQL as well. I would LOVE to work on projects (especially open source) if they involve significant coding (and I'm not that interested in doing web stuff) especially of a low-level nature. I am especially interested in getting into embedded systems work but I haven't had any experience in that field.
