Okay, this is sweet. I'm sitting in bed typing up this Advogato entry on my brand new titanium PowerBook G4 (800MHz/512M RAM). *drool*

OS X is so sweet. I have had a lot of people ask me if I am going to put linux on it, but no. No way. Mmm, nice OS X.

freshmeat

Finally, the big project I was working through has been launched. With only 25% of the themes processed (lousy Window Maker having 2.6k themes) themes.freshmeat.net is finally up and open to the public. There are still hours of processing to go, so it'll be a looong haul, but it'll be worth it in the end. Thanks to scoop, Ray, Chris, and Jeff, and everyone else who helped out on the conversion :-)

In other, slightly weird news, I came home today with two Giant Burrowing Cockroaches. Australian natives, these guys are flightless and as big as your index finger. If your index finger is as long as mine :-) They're perfectly clean and non-disease-carrying and overall really cool pets. I have some initial photos up here and am currently finishing a short piece on looking after cockroaches in general.

Not much to say apart that I'm still coding up homepage and things - atm doing a page that lists some weird entries in my referer logs. Like google searches for "snow-blow".

Well, I've been pretty busy recently. Started uni this week, am doing two History and Philosophy of Science subjects, one Medieval History subject, and C++ and Object Oriented Systems. Quite strange for a major in Computing Science, really. Though I am aiming for a major in HPS as well.

Otherwise I've taken the editor to my homepage in which you can now sign a guestbook and look at the pretty blue colours. I've also been doing some kickarse design on an RPG website I host but it's not up yet, cos I'm not finished. You can see the old, outdated, crappy one here.

Otherwise I've offloaded my SGI O2 onto Jaq, who promises me he'll return it with quake 2 and a working compile environment. Good luck!

Well, I'm now also working for freshmeat.net which is quite funky. It's been a lot of fun so far, and the people are great too :-)

Eek! I've had so many requests for my photojournal code that I've had to tar it up and do a little setup script and stuff... it's all rather swamping! Anyway, there's stuff here if you want to download it :-) Web-based backend coming RSN!

I've written a new photojournal in PHP, that I think looks and works really well. I'd been putting this off for a while because I was lazy, but I managed to get it up and running in an afternoon. I'm pretty impressed. Now I'll be inspired to keep my life up to date, and with pictures! Yay.

Now I should go and finish my History and Philosophy of Science essay. Blerh.

birthday

'twas my birthday on Friday, which brings me to the big 21... a little scary because I still consider that to be "old". Oh well. For my birthday I got a Canon Powershot Pro90 IS digital camera, which is very very sweet. Probably going to start up a photographic journal on liedra.net but I'll probably write some sort of script that makes things goodly first. Yay. I also got a Pioneer DVD ROM which works really well under linux. Ghost in the Shell is a cool movie.

Almost done with the seafolly.com site. There's just a holding page there atm, until seafolly gets their act together and gives me some content :-)
Managed to convice bossen that a linux firewall would be a Good Thing. That's next week's job! Yay :-)

uni

not much going on, dropped a few subjects after it was found that a) Bullant is crap, b) Bullant people paid lots of money to come and advertise to uni students by teaching the software engineering course, and c) Bullant people would be retaining the IP of any projects that the uni students wrote. I was not too happy with any of that, so I dropped it. Otherwise, things are looking as though they're going towards me doing a major in comp sci and a major in history and philosophy of science (a subject I picked up as "something a little different" and have since enjoyed very much). Yay. Pity I have to apply through UAC to change my enrolment. Ber :-(
