Yea, it's been a couple of weeks. Just got through finals and I couldn't be more relieved. It's not easy working full time, going to school full time and still having time to play around.

Lucas and I came up with a more difinitive date to work toward getting me in there (4/1). I wish money wasn't an issue, I'd be there full time right now. But I have to live.

There is so much going on with spindletop right now. Lucas has been building preliminary Blackbirds with our current configuration. We took some pictures of the first one being assembled on Saturday, eventually we'll post them on the site.

Well finals are next week. My last semester...Finally :- ) I'll have more time to work on the Spindl3top project which is great because the community is rapidly growing and the retail end is starting to pick up, Lucas could use some help I suppose.

I have an exam tonight in my meteorology class, haven't had time to study much but I'll do alright. Work is slow, I test software during the day and nothing has any pressing issues that need fixing... Gives me some time to study I guess ;-).

The second Spindl3top meeting is this Saturday, should be good. We need to get the co-op end up and running now that we have plenty of volunteers and or members....

Turkey day went surprisingly well considering this was the first time I've played host.

We have a new server admin. at Spindletop, Billy. I'm glad that we will be focusing on not only the site design but the programming as well. We've also purchased a new domain at spindl3top.com - S3 for short. Lucas and I agree that this is a clever way of dealing with the name issue. Thanks to K5 for the idea ;-).

Back to work.....

...ugh...Thanksgiving at my house this year. My fiancé and I will be busy, starting tomorrow, making pies, shopping, etc. Our place is just too small for all of the people that are coming. Why did I agree to this?......|-:

I'll be meeting at Spindletop headquarters on Saturday - looking forward to that.

Had our first Spindletop meeting this Saturday. Many local supporters turned out to discuss their ideas and concerns. Everything was very positive, people seem to be excited about our thoughts and Lucas and I are excited about implementing their ideas (and they had some great ones.

Events are unfolding very quickly and it's going to be a challenge to get things going, but with the kind of support that we've been receiving from the free software community - this is going to happen, it already is.

We're concentrating on the website first and foremost in our effort to build a base community that can help in every aspect from voting on ideas, to programming, to speaking on Spindletop's behalf (eventually). We're going to have a fully automated community that will not only be able to express their opinions but also actively participate in the construction of the first GNU/Linux hardware co-operative of its kind.

Wow, things are really happening with Spindletop.  I can't wait until the website is finished and Lucas and I can unveil it.  Still many bumps to work out but we're getting much positive feedback. I only wish I didn't have this pesky full time job getting in the way of working more on the project ;-).  I'm looking forward to tomorrow when I meet with Lucas and start assembling my first Blackbird. Well, better get back to work.

More time would be nice. I would love to have more time to do the things I want rather than waste it all on the things I have to do. A little at a time I guess, a little at a time...

Well, here it is, my first entry to advogato. I'm the newest employee of the latest "free software" movement, Spindletop. Created by Lucas Wagner, Spindletop is dedicated to providing hardware solutions for Linux end users. And yes, the home of the Blackbird.

I'm excited about the project and I'm relatively new to Linux, more familiar with old school Unix. (but I'm learning -- Fast ;-).

I met with Lucas a few times and we hit it off from the beginning (which was only a couple of weeks ago). Our ideas flow when we brainstorm and I'm convinced that Spindletop will be an asset to free software end users not only because we provide high quality, clean hardware but because we are completely open to new ideas and people interested in contributing to the movement.

New Advogato Features

New HTML Parser: The long-awaited libxml2 based HTML parser code is live. It needs further work but already handles most markup better than the original parser.
