Jacobo is weird. Just look at his diary! Yesterday he entered Debian's New Maintainer system, and I'm his Application Manager. He should be set for DAM processing tomorrow, as his Philosophy and Procedures answers were ok, and his package (some ncurses game) was very well done too.
After a week, I feel confortable on my old bike again. Now I know why I've been using it for so long :) But I miss the other bike. If you're the one who stole it, well, fuck off.
GNU nano's mailing list is fairly active these days. People are discussing about adding some new features, like splitting the buffer screen to edit two files at once, etc. We'll see. I'm worried we might bloat poor little nano too much.
Someday last week I found out WMBiff's author, Gennady Belyakov, died 1.5 years ago. I knew something had happened, he suddenly stopped answering mail. Doing random Google searches I found a post in an OpenBSD list which confirmed the news. *sigh*
Slashdot posted a very badly written story about SGI's layoffs affecting XFS for Linux staff. Blah, in the end, only 1 person was affected. You want to switch to XFS. Really!
I should be heading to bed right now. I have to get up at 11 tomorrow, there are some activities in València against the BAD (African Bank of Development or whatever the translation to English is) meeting that is having place here this week. Ha, the World Bank cancelled the Barcelona meeting, that was good news too.
Night!

Hm, I created my Advogato account ages ago, and never wrote anything.
Today was the first day I really had to use my old bike since the new one was stolen. Geez, I don't know how I've been able to use that piece of shit for over ten years. It's too heavy, too small and very strange, now that I had got used to the modern one.
Today I've had a discussion with one of the Ogg Vorbis developers on IRC. When I updated my XMMS package to 1.2.5-pre1, accents and other 8bit chars weren't showing up in the song name display. I reported that as a bug at XMMS's BugZilla, and the author told me my Oggs were bad. Strage, as I'm encoding them with oggenc. Well, oggenc is buggy and isn't encoding the song info as the spec says it needs to do it, using UTF8. There's a patch that fixes it for UNIX, and I pointed him at it. It would break the Windows port, so it needs to get fixed before it gets into CVS. I guess I'll just use my own vorbis-tools .deb for a while. At least oggenc's author and the patch author have started to talk about the problem.
Hey, this is cool. Mozilla hasn't crashed, I guess I found a decent nightly build at last (20010518, if you care).
Let's see how many more diary entries I write... don't expect much.

New Advogato Features

New HTML Parser: The long-awaited libxml2 based HTML parser code is live. It needs further work but already handles most markup better than the original parser.

Keep up with the latest Advogato features by reading the Advogato status blog.
