After a week of intensive training in Groningen, I believe I am prepared for the LPI 101 exam. :)

Fun @ home:
Some more fun starts this evening, I bought 2 10/100 ethernet cards and a 10/100 Switch and connected all of the HW and the UTP cables. I am ready to install Linux as a firewall, router, DHCP-Server and webserver. (I need more Diskspace) It will be a hard, (it's new for me) but I'll manage and I need the experience. And most of all, it wiil be fun. :)

Currentley I am preparing myself for my LPI 101 exam. I am doing that with the aid of www.examcram.com My score today was 74%. To pass I need 70% so I still need more training.

So.....I am still learning.

My colleauge Bas gave an lecture about Wireless LAN. The 802.11 standard to be exact.

I learned a lot. :) Thanks Bas.

As I have said before, I have ADSL now, so I can continue building a network at home. I have 2 desktops and 1 Laptop. The plan is as follows: 1 Desktop shall be a firewall. This is a Cyrix 166+ CPU, an 1,6 GB HDD and 52 MB of RAM. It will be reinstalled with RH 7.0

When I am finished with that, It will be connected to the MoDem and a hub. On the hub I then will connect my laptop an the other desktop (win 98).

Currently, I am looking for 3 extra ethernetcards. Maybe I will even get a wireless network in due time.

Ok I have got my wires sorted out, so the phone works as well again...

IT is cheaper this way and I am Happy.....Currentley I try to study for my LPI 101 exam

Woehoe.......My adsl MoDem is working......So I can internet at low costs :)

I had a few days of stuggle but I did it on my very own :)

They should Snail mail me a certificate ASAP. It will be the proof that I folowed the course.

In the week of the 20th of August I will be in Groningen for a guinypig like job. Ther I shall follow a course which has to prepare me for the LPI 101 exam.

I started a Linux course today......It is fun. I found uot that I already knew some of the stuff mentioned. There are some new Tips & Tricks I have learned....It will prepare me for the LPI 101 Exam together with a course I am going to follow in August....

I got my ADSL modem Yesterday....Nice to play with and to find out that you need ppp-Support as modules in stead of compiling into the kernel, so I made a new one this morning and ready for testing. But since I am very busy (or at least should be) I cannot test the kernel.....

According to an colleage of mine, the Linuxkernel 2.4.5 and up seem to be a little unstable, so I am usine up2date to update to RH 7.1. (it will give me the 2.4.3 kernel instead.)

I am also studying some more fun stuff like perl and more general Unix like things.

I am also still trying to get the WVlan card to work. No such luck at this time :(

I am happy :) I am wireless an have updated to RH 7.1 with the 2.4.3 kernel and an update of modutil did the trick .

Bought a Laptop of my own this weekend. Monday I started out configuring a wilelessLan card. No luck so far, but I have all the time I need :)

Currentley I am compiling a 2.4.6 kernel for better pcmcia support, so I have time to update my diary here and some time to study.

The Xircom card is working fine, it does not come up at boot, but if activated it works fine.

I hope to get my ownd card next Thursday. So I don't need this one anymore, because I am borrowing it from my colleauge Bas
