My colleauge Bas gave an lecture about Wireless LAN. The 802.11 standard to be exact.

I learned a lot. :) Thanks Bas.

As I have said before, I have ADSL now, so I can continue building a network at home. I have 2 desktops and 1 Laptop. The plan is as follows: 1 Desktop shall be a firewall. This is a Cyrix 166+ CPU, an 1,6 GB HDD and 52 MB of RAM. It will be reinstalled with RH 7.0

When I am finished with that, It will be connected to the MoDem and a hub. On the hub I then will connect my laptop an the other desktop (win 98).

Currently, I am looking for 3 extra ethernetcards. Maybe I will even get a wireless network in due time.

Ok I have got my wires sorted out, so the phone works as well again...

IT is cheaper this way and I am Happy.....Currentley I try to study for my LPI 101 exam

Woehoe.......My adsl MoDem is working......So I can internet at low costs :)

I got my ADSL modem Yesterday....Nice to play with and to find out that you need ppp-Support as modules in stead of compiling into the kernel, so I made a new one this morning and ready for testing. But since I am very busy (or at least should be) I cannot test the kernel.....

According to an colleage of mine, the Linuxkernel 2.4.5 and up seem to be a little unstable, so I am usine up2date to update to RH 7.1. (it will give me the 2.4.3 kernel instead.)

I am also studying some more fun stuff like perl and more general Unix like things.

I am also still trying to get the WVlan card to work. No such luck at this time :(

I am happy :) I am wireless an have updated to RH 7.1 with the 2.4.3 kernel and an update of modutil did the trick .

:))

Bought a Laptop of my own this weekend. Monday I started out configuring a wilelessLan card. No luck so far, but I have all the time I need :)

Currentley I am compiling a 2.4.6 kernel for better pcmcia support, so I have time to update my diary here and some time to study.

The Xircom card is working fine, it does not come up at boot, but if activated it works fine.

I hope to get my ownd card next Thursday. So I don't need this one anymore, because I am borrowing it from my colleauge Bas
