All goes well here at the Lodge. They have found an Successor for me, so my job here is done. The gap has been breached. I can keep the Laptop, so it's worth it.

I am leaving somewhere in July/August to an new job, if any available at that time, but Snow will take care of that. In the meantime,I can continue my Perl & Unix studies :).

I got my SnowCar Yesterday. It is a blue VW-Golf TDI (a red I to be exact) The car is filled with little funny gadgets, I like it that way.

My Celluar rang at about 0400 last night, so I didn't get much sleep, 'cause I didn't get to bed before 0130 so I am pissed and sleapy and so on....but It pays my Bills and I can save it all for more gadgets all toll/VAT/Tax-free so it is for a good cause.

Some of my colleagues have seen the light. It will not take long or some wil start using Linux vary soon :))

WORK:

When it comes to kill users when the lost their TTY, the internet is not much help.

Randakar was And I mean A LOT The guy is great. Thanks pal.

Currentley I am testing it, it seems to be working. It is to bad, the users close their app's as they should.

Work:

I started out writing a script that kill a users PID when it has lost its TTY (i.e. pts/8) They are generic users called vvoplan. The script now produces a .csv, so I don't have to filter them out manulally. The problem is, I cannot add the kill -9 if I don't know what PID the users are gonna get. :(

As we all know the PID is at random. How do you kill that one.

WORK:

The card works fine now, the problem seemed to be the Xircom adapter-cable from the card to UTP.

When working with AIX, I found out (as a newbie to AIX that is) it is a lot easier than other Unixlike OSses. It uses Smit As a tool when configuring the Server. Now I am configuring a testsystem for mirroring.

FUN:

Shopping for a Laptop of my own, is a dirty job. I have to, but am in no hurry. I will have one for the duration of this job.

WORK:

I started out Yesterday at The Lodge. I got a laptop for the duration for this job. It is dual-bootable to RH 7.0. Both OSses work fine, but I need to finetune RH, so it can communicete with the card. It is a Xircom and I don't expect any problems. I dont have the time for that. Bummer :(

At the other hand, I can familiarise me with AIX (by IBM) :)

FUN:

An IXtreme BSDI-Server arrived. I startet to play wint it, and fount out that a Dual PIII 700 Mhz processor is FAST when it comes to compiling.

The machine will contain the Snow 2.5 Distro sources.

I am also attempting to make an Dualboot Laptop for a new colleague of mine. I hope it works. *sigh* he wants to boot WIN first.

Linux seems to work fine. He needs to finetune, but he wants to do that himself. :)

WORK:

Tomorrow I am Starting at "The Lodge" I am looking forward to this job.
