Aiming at the first diary post of the Real Millennium. I wonder what time zone the server counts in. At any rate, it's awfully sad that I'm doing this, but then, it's been an awfully sad holiday.

This whole thing is becoming very self-referential. ian shouts me out in his little diary, so I feel compelled to do the same. :) Not much going on in my life as a 1337 c0d3r d00d. Might get to do some Palm OS coding, which is at least interesting if not creative and/or fulfilling. Might be some more web stuff in the future as well. Have to go to some big meeting wherein bigwigs read an RFP. I've been told I can't ask any questions about new features I might come up with, because our competitors might steal them. Sounds like bullshit to me.

A lot of "industry" stuff sounds like bullshit to me. I guess that makes me naive, but there it is. I mean, who gives a shit about all that? People who want money I suppose. That's the ringer. Ian says we should do web development and that we could, feasibly even, cut it on our own. But there's this whole business aspect of it that scares me. It just doesn't go with the tech, y'know? I want to create things and make them go. I don't want to keep everything a secret so that nobody will steal it. I almost feel like I can understand RMS. For just a fleeting second.

I should be writing more JunkMail.

Never done this before. But my good pal Ian loves to do it, and I'm working with him currently, so I feel almost that I should. Symmetry, dig? I'm working on this project, lots of nice meaty perl stuff. I've never really done any hardcore perl, at least not that anybody's actually used for anything, so I'm a bit scared. But not really. Hey, maybe it'll snowball. Got 9 hours sleep last night and turned more tired than ever. Which ended up reminding me that having an SO ain't all it's cracked up to be, sometimes. Anyway, sleep.
