How do we know our linux box has crashed? Could it be that your computer's inputs have been disabled? That's funny. Well, it's not. I've been trying for a few times now to install ssh. I thought installing the first version would fix my problem (can't login to shell.sourceforge.net). It might, but I've yet to install it! I think my linux box is afraid of it. I've got the latest Nvidia drivers for XFree 4.0.1 and I know both are a little buggy. I was switching from my user account (running X and Netscape for documentation on how to install ssh) to my two opened root accounts (for configuration of ssh) and suddenly Crassh!

Guess I'll try again tonight but it won't be easy. You see, I live with four female roommates. As you well know, women tend to use such little devices, like phones, very often and for an extended period of time. And since I'm using a modem... 'Nough said. :)

Work: It's really bugging me (litteraly). I'm just a coop student and I started to work at exactly the same time as Corel Draw 10 was getting into the debbuging part of it's release cycle. Shee! And there are sooo many I feel like I'm a marine from starcraft in front big swarming sea of zerglings!

You wouldn't believe how many issues we have!

My project: I've begun to do some research. I've found three different versions of the Tron game so that's a good place to start looking. I hope to have my basic game architecture planing done by the end of the week.

I've been thinking of doing a big "scrach book" on how my project is going. If this is going anywhere, it could help other people do whatever I'm trying to do right now from a newbie perspective.

See ya!

It's just amazing.

Some people seems to have it all in life: curiosity, motivation, social life. They want to learn and they are learning! I'm so jaleous of that kind of person! I would like to be like that. This is one of my goal in life and some people like Nymia are an inspiration to me.

Nymia, your diary's entries are amazing! Keep up the good work! You seem to be so happy and full of energy!

There really should be some kind of message service here... I'd like to communicate with some people here and the easiest way to do so is through our diary's entries.

Here are the things I need:

- A good book on Xlib programming (tutorials are hard to find. And I must admit I like the feel of a big hardcover book sitting on your lap!)

- TIME!!!

I so much want to create my project but I still lack the knowledge and time. So I guess it'll be slow going. But that's all right, as long as I don't lose my motivation.

******************

I feel good today. I've been working on a bug in the text engine of the upcoming CorelDraw 10 and I'm actually getting somewhere. This is very good for my ego! I still have a few problems, but it should be over in a few minutes.

Don't you all hate it when you get into a kind of depressing phase in life? It happened to me during the last two days. It's the kind of time where you just don't want to do anything, or better still, be with your friends, drink a beer with them and watch tv all evening. No talking. Just their presence and something to focuse upon (i.e., the tv) :)

I'm glad it's over!

You know, I figured last year that a man must go back to it's roots in order to feel better. I like to be in the company of other human beings, I like being outdoors, I play guitar, and I relax. Hmmmmm... Ok, back to my regular stuff!

I downloaded the ssh protocol from ssh.com two days ago and didn't manage to configure it. The Readme file wasn't helpfull at all and when I tried to run it I got an error message that said I was running a pirated version of the protocol. (I was trying to connect to shell.sourceforge.net)

Anyone owns a project on sourceforge and would like to help me out on this? After all, I'm still a newbie in the linux / open source world.

I feel like a little frog that wants to swallow a bull... :)

Hmmm... Seems like I have lost my apprentice status! I didn't earned it, anyway. At least it'll be an extra motivation for me to push forward into the realm of open source. But it's kinda hard. I mean, I work all day long in front of a computer, spliting my brain in half trying to figure out a fix for some nasty bugs. The last thing I want to do when I get home is to open my computer.

But it's calling me... Oh, the marvellous song it puts in my head.

You see, I realized last week that to be succesfull in the field you must put some hard work, learn things that you wouldn't learn otherwise, create something new.

And that's exactly what I'm going to do!

Watch out there, I'm comming!

Aaah! What a great weekend I've just had. Nice weather and a nice hiking trail. What more could I ask for?

I just realised that MS windows doesn't support the ssh1 protocol and I need it to log into my shell account at sourceforge in order to create my project homepage. I'll have to wait 'till this evening to get on my linux box and do it all from there.

Great! SourceForge accepted my project. The web page should be on by next week. I would really like this project to work!

The afternoon is awfully long... Anyway, here are the features I'm planning to put into my project:

- internet play

- 2D view (at first. I'll move up to 3D later...)

Something came up last night so I didn't start the project. And I'll be away for the weekend, doing some hiking. Oh well... I hope to start it soon!

I created my web page. There's not much on it right now... just a blank page! :)

Still waiting for a sourceforge account for my project.

Great! I just opened my project on sourceforge.

It's going to be under the GPL license. I can't wait to start. But I've got to get rid of my lazyness first... :)

Crap! I lost my first diary entry.

Oh, well...

1 older entry...
