Notes:

Currently I'm a high school student and work as a free writer in my spare time. Most of the writing I do is for the german magazine LinuxUser, where I am in charge of the monthly Gnomogram, which covers GNOME news, programs and tips. The articles I write are also translated and published in LinuxMagazine UK. Beside that I did a little translation work for the GNOME project myself and play saxophone in various small bands.

The job information today sucked. All the journalism-guy did was praise the work done at local newspapers - he really never heard about online-journalism.
After that we started editing the movie. There are some bad continuity problems in there, but I guess that's all part of of the amateur charm, the movie will have :)
One good thing is that I have enough caffeine in my bloodstream to write a paper about globalisation this night. And maybe I might even be able to help the admin of our schools webpage to fix some html-problems.
Over the weekend I read a large portion of K.W. Jeter's Noir. So far I really like the book, though some parts are a little too weird for my tastes. I guess all the German poetry tied into the text is cooler, if you're not a native speaker, but it seems to be a must to use at least some German words in a modern science fiction novel *g*.

Been playing around a lot with Gramps - I already added about 100 of my ancestors, but since almost all of them have very similar names it becomes harder and harder not to get lost. The program has some very nice features like html exportation, but the interface needs some work and it would be great if the integrity check would actually tell me where the errors are. It seems good enough for a middle sized ancestor-database though, so I guess I'll feature it in the next Gnomogram.

It's funny how peolpe that I never heard of certify me - thanks for the trust, just don't do that with PGP-Keys ;)
We have somehow been able to finish the movie yesterday, ethen though the weather wasn't too great. The end is hillarious (well, the whole movie will be), a guy gets a doener kebap smashed in his face by his sister and she steals his car. Believe me it's way more funny than throwing a cake :)
I've also been working on the class of 2002 (staberg2002.de) webpage, because we plan a big party soon and I need to add some content for advertising reasons. When I have some more time I'll redo the page in some decent html - the problem is that nearly all viewers use internet explorer, which I don't have (wan't) on my system and thus can't test against.
Next monday we'll have a career information day in school, perhaps i can get some infomation about journalism there. They have probably never heard of online-journalism on the other hand.

Well, it's official now - Eazel closed it's doors. Sad to see them go, but it's not really a surprise. Hopefully Ximian will be able to make some money with services. Quite frankly I doubt it, but it's absolutely worth a try. Apropos, looks like the next issue of LinuxUser will ship with Ximian GNOME. Another step towards more GNOME users in Germany :)
It rains all day here, so we won't be able to film outside. I have no idea how to keep the deadline now - we'll probably have to cut the movie in a weekend (without sleep).

Well, I just felt like it and opened an advogato account - I hope I'll have the time to update the diary on a regulary basis.
When finishing the Gnomogram yesterday I had a hard time deciding what to write about Eazel. I think it's obvious that they are going down, but it isn't official yet. Anyway, it'll take a little time, before the next issue of LinuxUser will actualy be printed and Eazel will hopefully have an official announcement till then. It's hard to believe that I'll be working on Gnomogram number 13 soon. It doesn't quite feel like one year yet, but I'll include a summary of the first year anyway.
School is pretty stressy right now, since it's exams time and the movie I'm doing with a few friends is way behind schedule. We'll hopefully be able to finish the filming tomorrow and start the editing. I don't have to do any more acting though, which is a good thing, since I'm not really that talented *g*

New Advogato Features

New HTML Parser: The long-awaited libxml2 based HTML parser code is live. It needs further work but already handles most markup better than the original parser.
