| Mitch Kapor to speak at CodeCon |

We just announced that Mitch Kapor, founder of osafoundation, is going to speak at the CCCP benefit dinner at CodeCon. This is a great addition to our already very strong program. CodeCon pre-registration closes in a few hours, so sign up early while you still can!
I would love to pre-register. I discovered I could afford to go on Thursday, and went and bought tickets and everything. But, I don't have any way of paying you long distance in a few hours for pre-registration. I don't even have enough money moved into my PayPal account to do it that way. *sigh*
For all the good the Internet is right now for moving information, it is very poor for moving money.
It has already been pointed out more than once that local or regional events do not exactly belong into the article section. CodeCon even claimed 2 articles, and it is not a free event, so I'd like to see fewer such messages in the future.
I don't think advertisments for conferences belong here.
I'm posting announcements here because many Advogato readers are interested in it. It's particularly germaine this year, since a presentation on Advogator will be given by Raph Levien himself.
There's not very much content on advogato, and any time content threatens to break out, we see complaints that something is not appropriate. Give it a rest; it's not like there is a fixed number of slots for content and something more worthy is being edged out.
Three advertisments for a conference are hardly "content".
I would have gone last time, but the DNA lounge is 21+. This is not a problem, as I am of age, but the notion of having to show government-issued photo ID at a privacy conference didn't exactly make me take it very seriously.
FOAF updates: Trust rankings are now exported, making the data available to other users and websites. An external FOAF URI has been added, allowing users to link to an additional FOAF file.
