a new myth

Posted 9 May 2002 at 13:53 UTC by badvogato Share This

God put two twin brothers on an island. The brothers were only 5 years old.

God told them, you are to learn this classic game 'weiqi' on these two fastest computers i bought from eBay. I also bought a big storage machine from a company called IBM. I have lead Oracle database designers installed a specialized instance on the IBM machine. The database is to store all 'weiqi' games humans have played among themselves from antiquity to this day. I have a team of brightest Java software engineers from Sun at your disposal to satisfy any desire you may have for manipulating the datasets from the database to your PC with huge flat panel display.

But no one is going to tell you any rules about the game. You two figure it out from the datasets in the database and start playing against each other. After 13 years, i'll come to this island again and look at all records of games you played. I'll send the winner to the earth and play against people there. If you lose to a human being, that human person will get a ticket to heaven when he dies. If the human lost the game to you, he will sure be sent to hell after he dies.

And or so begins the new myth of a way of life...

What if he plays with a computer?, posted 9 May 2002 at 19:54 UTC by atai » (Journeyer)

And what will God do to the computer if it wins or loses? Send the computer to heaven or hell?

Trade Secret revealed. Patent it if you will. Please restrain my trade secret only to your native country. God bless thy nation.

I could've written something better myself.

However, I prefer working under a business model based on selling critiques. (Why critics won't starve.)

If a nerual net can play Wei2 Chi2, can it be trained to be bad? Where can good training data be found?

business model based on selling..., posted 13 May 2002 at 15:26 UTC by badvogato » (Master)

selling points:

  • Go - an addictive Game
  • state-of-the-art ASIC Technology available on the market
"Innovation in ASIC technology is closely linked to the evolution of process technology. In the past, we advanced from 3-um gate arrays to 0.8-um cell-based ICs with on-chip compiled RAM and ROM memory. Then, at the 0.5-um process level, we introduced a CPU core-based ASIC with embedded analog circuits that integrated a 32-bit reduced instruction set computer (RISC) core together with analog-to-digital converter (ADC) and digital-to-analog converter (DAC)modules. At 0.35-um, the trend is to integrate dynamic RAM (dram) with logic on a single chip. With the state-of-the-art 0.18-um process technology, the micro-cell-based IC (uCBIC) and the DRAM-ASIC will be fully enhanced to provide the system-on-a-chip solutions shown in Fig. 1.
  • from end-user's functionality design, the device can be combined with music playing, hi-resolution binary color display etc. as sye calls it "twin handheld delights".

badvogato, allow me to introduce to you one of the prodigies in our trade, I. Volow. No clues as to whether he has lost his concentration since his last match, alas.

    10-dan, posted 15 May 2002 at 12:46 UTC by badvogato » (Master)

tk, no one can become 10-dan unless he is married to a 10-dan woman. if Mr. Volow is going back to be a script writer for porno flicks so that he can find his 10-dan woman, pray to God for him and with him. Otherwise, you have to be patient. He might be 9-dan when you discovered him. Then he is bored to be 9-dan so he played 1,2,3,4-dan. For some instance he became 9-dan again. He won't settled in any-dan until he becomes 10-dan.
